The thermal protection switch is normally located on the A/C compressor housings. It is used to prevent compressor damage (overheat) through internal friction. This switch senses the compressor case temperature and once this case temperature reaches a predetermined figure, the electrical circuit to the compressor is interrupted.
How does a thermal protection switch protect against?
